Random poems I write when I am bored...which happens often.

Vampire's Curse

Life as an immortal isn't worth living
never ending fight to survive
lives taken so one may live....
FOREVER!!!

Heart that once beat in love's rapid pace
forced to stop in an untimely manner
never to feel again....
NUMB!!!!

Monsterous feeling-destroying others
living a life existing centuries ago
eternal dependence of the elixer of life....
BLOOD!!!

Perpentual night
trying to live in the sun
enable to escape
DARKNESS!!

One that could make a heart skip if it still beat
hair black as night, eyes blue as sky
cannot resist the urge
BITE!!!

Forsaken now and always
undying need for internal peace
for now he too carries this
CURSE!!!

I love you too!!

Held under for too long
Drowning in your love
Chained in your grasp
Your love is my disease
Clawing at the soul
Afraid of losing control
I love you too!!

Demon Within

One of darkness; one of light
but in a single form
a man; a demon
weakness shared
the girl; the one with the anglic face
a curse; forever doomed to be one
the perfect balance obtained within
half a man for the girl.

Reflections

Rippling pools of
Enchanted waters show the
Face of a
Lovely girl.
Eternal beauty glistening
Charmingly her eyes do gleam but deep within lies
Terrible darkness and greed.
Infinitely this girl will suffer for her
Overly egotistical illusions
Never will a man love her for
She shuns the light from her mind

In the subtle darkness...

In the subtle darkness
of the mind a solemn vow is made.
To be rid of all the melancholy
nonsense that has made itself home.
As well as the cynical thoughts that appear
out of the abyss like a desert oasis.
Though the consequence for ignoring premonition is great
pressing on in order to create a different destiny
is the only to stop being such a nuisance on the world
and escape from solitude.

Let’s go now before the love is gone

When is life the question,
how do we find the answer?
When hatred consumes,
how do we escape the flames?
Imagine a world where obsession is on repeat,
and shame is to blame for the darkness..
We’ll go the edge of life and replenish our demonic minds.
I have with me the key to joy with an image of paradise
Let’s go now before the love is gone.

How Do You Measure a Life?

HOW DO YOU MEASURE A LIFE?
Through the darkness of your mind,
the crimes you've commited or,
the number of times you've made someone cry.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE A LIFE?
When life is so short,
dreams become nothing but distant thoughts,
and the memories disappear.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE A LIFE?
When the beliefs you shared became unimportant,
your own body is against you, and the world
doesn't accept who you are.

Don't measure a life in unachieved dreams,
unimportant thoughts,and failures. Measure in
the glad times, the smiles, the laughter,.....
IN LOVE!

Insanity

In my Secret Dollhouse
I hold a Neverland.
It is my Kaleidoscope
of untold Sin.
Though I try to escape
the maddness within
I find sanity has Vanished
I'm abandoned yet again

We Are The Ones

We are the ones, who continue to fight when world decides to fail.
We are the ones, who try without ever giving up hope.
We are the ones, who decide when the war is finished and there will be peace.
We are the ones, who share what little we have with those who are in need.
We are the ones, who payforward the help we recieve in life.
We are the ones, who never want to hurt.
We are the ones, who beleive this world can be and do great things.
We are the ones, that refuse to give up who we are for others.
WE ARE THE ONES!

Urges

"Feel their breath upon your neck
It smells of blood, it smells of death
You wince before the their teeth pierce your awaiting flesh
You keep your eyes closed, just waiting for the pain"
Your body is numb with cold
Your heart is rapidly beating
Then nothing
You awake from a trance like state
Realizing your no longer yourself
You cry...then a craving lurches from inside
Blood the necture of life the one thing you can produce no longer
You gorge in the glistening red liquid of life
Then you notice that dawn is about to break so
You quickly cover the windows and lock your door
Then you rest in the darkness.
This is your curse
You'll live in darkness
sleep in darkness
breath only darkness
And everynight be awakened
with an urge to feed

Why

Why do we let our true feelings hide
so we may find what we seek
Blinded and numb to the ignorence
in order to get what we desire
When all we really want is with us all a long
unknown of its existance until its gone

Comfortably Numb

I've become comfortably numb, unusual as it seems
everything around me are just infamous dreams.
Everything near me, everthing i see,
crumbles and breaks right in front of me.
Damned to never feel
except for pain that is very real.
Pain, which was brought upon by you,
should've known you would never be true.
Love once felt, now long to feel again,
unsure if ever to feel again.

Murder

Wings on the shadow have come
A scream; no one hears
Creeping blade feels cold to the touch
Left isolated and alone to die

~Shady~

Shady figure
~lurking~
In search of
~innocence~
a devious plan
~Murder~
Stealing a soul
~in hopes~
of saving his

Over and Over~Over and Over~

Hear the lies
~Over and Over~
Hear your cries
~Over and Over~
Loving anyone but you
~Over and Over~
Regret ever loving you

An amendment piece finished at Journalism camp

The First Amendment--- Why It’s Important, Why It Needs Protection, and How To Protect It?
By: Jessica Michael Borchers

As students in high school we are forced to learn about the government, including the amendments. Sitting in classrooms day after day, wishing the day went by a little quicker, thinking, “Why is this important to me? These are just a bunch of silly rules made by old men who had nothing better to do.”
High school students, as a rule, are no better at understanding the importance of these amendments than a child.
That is why teachers stress the amendments so much. (Especially the First Amendment.) Students need to understand that without these amendments, America would not exist as it is today. We wouldn’t have any of the freedoms that are expected as we grow up, such as voting or driving or choosing the careers we want.
The First Amendment alone protects five personal freedoms. However, most people only know of two, the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press. Most believe these are the most important freedoms granted by the amendment, because they protect a person’s right to express their opinion without fear of prosecution, however without the rest of the freedoms given to us by this amendment our voices matter not.
Without our right to believe in any religion, or to petition the government, or to peacefully assembly, the rights to free speech or press mean nothing.
According to the University of Connecticut’s (UCONN) Center for Survey and Analysis, which carried out the research, while 74% strongly agree that Americans should be allowed to express unpopular opinions, only 26% approve of the right to express views in public that might be offensive to religious groups, while 36% strongly disagree. Only 18% strongly agree that it is acceptable to say in public what might be offensive to racial groups, while 46% strongly disagree. (John S. and James L. Knight Foundation)
It’s kind of depressing to think that many people do not believe that people should have the right to express their views if it might offend racial or religious groups. However isn’t that why the amendment was written…to tell the world your opinion whether or not they want to hear it?
Many high school students admit that they take or have taken the First Amendment for granted. “’Kids sometimes don't work as hard because they don't appreciate (the First Amendment),’ said Trevor Ivan, a senior newspaper journalism major and public affairs reporter for the Daily Kent Stater. ‘The First Amendment is a really important issue and it doesn't receive the recognition it deserves,’ Goodman said. "Democracy can only exist where free speech is protected.’” (Kent Newsnet.com, Feb. 23, 2007)
Sometimes the First Amendment is put on trial…. LITERALLY! One example of this happened in 1969, in the Tinker v. Des Moines School District case. A small group of students wore black armbands as a way silently to protest the Vietnam War. They were suspended because they refused to take them off. The Supreme Court ruled it a violation of their First Amendment Rights. (Kent Newsnet.com, Feb. 23, 2007)
Teachers are trying harder to inform their students about their rights as citizens of the United States. Some students are at a disadvantage with a little prior knowledge of the First Amendment.
Here’s some advice for trying to keep the First Amendment a permanent part of the Bill of Rights. Take advantage of it. If there is an issue that you feel strongly about, voice your opinion. If there is an issue that has two different sides and you’re on the pro-side or the against-side, explain why and petition it. Don’t let the First Amendment be forsaken any longer…voice out your opinions, because you have the right to do so.

THE INTRIGUING JESSICA BORCHERS

While wondering the halls of Holmes Jr /Sr High School in Covington Kentucky, I met the most intriguing, young student. Jessica Michael Borchers, or Jessi as she prefers, is a junior and has nearly completed her first year in the International Baccalaureate Program. Though Jessi has vast intellectual knowledge, she also has about her a quirky, comical side that only her family and closest friends know of.
Her mother and father, who are Holmes graduates, are indescribably proud of their “shining star”, who has impressed them with her yearning desire for knowledge. However, Jessi is not the only one in her family with this need for academic growth. Her seven year old sister, Savannah Belle also possesses this desire. Having already been student of the month in kindergarten and first grade, as well as “diligent dolphin” all of her school career, Savannah is well on her way, following in her sister’s foot steps.
Jessi is the kind of person who says what’s on her mind. She believes everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves. She is a strong, giving young woman, with a brilliant sense of herself. Always willing to help others, having volunteered every year at “The Day in the Arts” program, in which all the elementary school students come to Holmes for a day of fun. Though it is often chaotic, she never fails to meet the challenge, leaving the children with a great day of memories.
Jessi, this junior over-achiever, is also the comic of her group, some might say clumsy. She has a history of being on crutches, and laughs about herself. What a good spirit this girl has.
Jessi enjoys simple activities like curling up with a good book or simply hanging out with her family. It doesn’t take too much to make her happy. One of her favorite family activities is going to the drive-in.
“I have many dreams,” she says, “however, I am not quiet sure if I can or how I can make them reality. My goals and dreams change as often as the weather in Northern Kentucky. For the longest time I had wanted to be a veterinarian, however I recently realized that I could not handle death of animals very well, especially by my own hand. Right now my main goal is to get though my junior year in high school.”
Jessi became interested in journalism in her ninth grade year when she was the editor and chief of the Holmespun. She realized then that she could create decent articles that would be amusing to her fellow peers. She wants to expand her knowledge on the subject of journalism in order to be a professional journalist and keep people informed of the goings-on in the community.

How Ibsen and Euripides Objectifiy Women Within Their Plays
BY: JESSICA BORCHERS

Women are people in life that men desire to call their own. However, they are seen only as objects in the plays, A Doll House, by Henrik Ibsen and Medea, by Euripides. These plays also show the growth of women from objects into independent thinkers. The female characters in these plays were given no choice but to grow as people because of the experiences they have had with the dominant males in their families. They do things that would normally be frowned upon in order to live beyond the traditional stereotype of Women.
In the case of Nora (from A Doll House), she secretly borrows money in order to provide for her ill husband the vacation which is desperately needed. However, she is forced to borrow this money in secret because she doesn’t want to give the impression to others that her husband is weak, which would damage his pride and reputation.
However when the man who granted her the loan, Krogstad, is fired, by her husband, Torvald, he holds the loan over her head and basically says “Your husband will have no choice but to hire me back with promotions when he reads the letter I have written telling of our transaction.” When Torvald reads this letter, he is furious at Nora for humiliating him and fails to see that in truth it is because of her that he is living. “What a horrible awakening! All these years—she who was my joy and my pride—a hypocrite, a liar—worse, worse--a criminal! (Nora is as criminal for the simple fact that she forged her father’s signature in order to obtain the loan. She forged his signature because he did not want to discuss her financial woes at her father’s death bed.).....Now you have destroyed my happiness. You have ruined all my future. It is horrible to think of! I am in the power of an unscrupulous man; he can do what he likes with me....And I must sink to such miserable depths because of a thoughtless woman!”
During the course of the play Nora has come to terms with the truth that she married a man who knows nothing about her. However he can not know anything about her because she knows nothing of herself. This is because she has always been a “doll”. Even as a child, “When I was home with Daddy, he told me all his opinions, and so they became my opinions too. If I disagreed with him I kept it to myself, for he wouldn’t have liked that.”
When she got to be too old to live with her father she was placed in Torvald’s house to be his doll. She has never had her own opinions on things. Realizing this she wants to evolve from a mere child’s plaything into a real person with thoughts and feelings of her own. In order to do this she leaves her husband and children. This releases Torvald from the doll protection program and the marriage and leaves the responsibility of taking care of the children to the Nurse, as it has always been, preventing herself from making her children out to be little dolls as well. Also preventing, herself to return to doll like form. For she is tired of being seen as a precious china doll, that is just in existence to be beautiful.
In the case of Medea (from Medea), she kills his new bride, his new father-in-law and her own sons in order to spite her husband, Jason, for being a coward and secretly marrying another woman while they are still married. Jason claims that he married the other woman (who was a princess) so “that I might be the father of brothers for the children thou hast borne, and raise these to the same high rank, uniting the family in one, -to my lasting bliss. Thou, indeed hast no need of more children, but me it profits to help my present family by that which is to be.”
She is basically being told, “I don’t care about your feelings. I just wanted to have more children, with someone other than you. You are nothing more to me than a baby making machine, and you’ve broken down.” He’s treachery upon Medea evokes no sympathy. Even as he influences the exile of Medea (out fear for his, his new-bride, and the king’s safety) he feels nothing. The only reason at all that Jason offers to help (financially and such) is because she is the mother of his only two sons.
This unlocks her treachery. She makes a dress and crown lined with poison. She gives them to her sons to take to the princess in hopes she will accept them as her sons. They are accepted as part of her family, but not an hour later is the new bride dead. Soon after when the children return home they are slain by their mother.
The slaughter of the sons is justified through the hardships and the embarrassment that Jason inflicted upon Medea. He provoked her to kill their sons by choosing to marry another person rather than talk to his spouse.
If he would’ve allowed Medea and himself the chance to talk out their relationship issues maybe she wouldn’t have killed her children.
She refused to allow Jason a proper good-bye to his sons. In order to evoke as much pain and anger that had evoked within her heart.
These plays show the audiences how women can be objectified and overcome such cruelty. Women need to be respected and treated with kindness too. They needed to be talked to as if they are of importance and will offer some new thought to the table. They are not just toys or baby making machines they are the ones who will prove their love (for their spouse) over and over again. However, if provoked, they will do anything to make them (their spouses) suffer.
